PhilWeavers Is Now An Open Forum

PhilWeavers, the Philippines’ unofficial-but-authoritative organization for Web professionals, has today issued an official announcement regarding their shift to open membership:

Greetings Fellow Filipino Web Designers, Employers and Job Posters,

PhilWeavers (PW) is an online global network of Filipino Web Designers. Currently there are more than 400 active Filipino members based in a number of countries, that share common concerns, commitments, and standards. Through the years we have endeavored to keep PW relevant to the Philippine IT industry and as we approach our first decade next year,We would like to take you with us to the next level. With this in mind we would like to announce that…

PhilWeavers is Now an Open Forum

Effective immediately, PhilWeavers.Net shall be converted into an open membership forum website.

This change is in keeping true to PW’s goal of building a network of Filipino Web Designers committed to fostering growth, unity and community among its members. Although the previous format was successful, its membership selection process excluded those starting out in our industry. With the shift to an open forum setup, PW aims to broaden its membership and encourage young designers to be more involved while giving opportunities to more established designers in mentoring the next generation.

And since membership is now open to the public, anyone can join PhilWeavers.

We are encouraging all interested parties to sign up and we are also inviting back those who previously applied for membership but got rejected to take advantage of the new format. Existing members finding difficulty in logging into the site can just signup again on the fly.

Join now!

What’s New?

  1. Social Networking - gain friends, network with clients, leave comments, etc
  2. Blogs - so that fellow members can keep track of your activities
  3. Gallery - where you can post screenshots of your work
  4. Jobs Board - has been setup to establish better and faster interfacing between the employer and interested designers.
  5. New Member Rankings - There is also a new member ranking to encourage more interaction between the members. Simply put, the higher your rank, the more benefits and access points you’ll have in the forums:

    • Junior Weaver - 150 Posts

Finally, we urge you to visit PhilWeavers.net often over the next several weeks as we will be theming the site pretty soon with the help of Diwa Fernandez and Jeff Mendoza.

Screw you, you and your snooty arses. Philweavers was boring then, it still is boring now. Wanna help newbies, you say? Get off your high horse and really mentor them. Rather than keep yourselves secluded in your elitist world. You have a long way to go my friends.

Mark Matthews: Perhaps if you read the press release carefully, you wouldn’t miss the line that says “anyone can join PhilWeavers.” Your remarks are clearly based on outdated information: yes, PhilWeavers was once a by-selection organization, we even mention the old membership process in the same press release, but I guess you skipped that, as well.

I don’t want to repeat myself by explaining the new format to you when the text above ought to suffice. And since you say it’s boring, it shouldn’t matter to you, anyway.
